views. It offers long sandy beaches and sand dunes along the
coast and inland it features more than 4,000 chateaux, manors
and medieval homes!

people. Both water sports enthusiasts, lovers of seafood or fine
cuisine and anyone fascinated by old magical, but sometimes
scary, legends and history will love Brittany and what it has to
offer.
One
of the most mystifiying attractions in Brittany is probably the
Stones of Carnac, the most famous stone markings outside of
those of Stonehenge. The stones stretch for about 2 miles though
Carnac and no-one seems to know what they were used for. The
Stones of Carnac are just miles of large stones, from 0.8 meters
to 6.5 meters high, standing upright - but what were they for?
Some people think these standing stones were signposts,
others think they marked burial plots, still others think they
were astronomical in nature. Now research is going on to try to
find out if these stone markings served as sites for astronomy
or whether they were aligned with the Sun or Moon in a special
way - many people come to look and study the rocks every year.
