Vendee - About the Region
Vendee, a beautiful part of France. The Vendee is a large
region which is about the size of Cornwall. Loire is located on
the French Atlantic coast just south Nantes. Vendee offers lush
countryside and miles of sandy coastline along with beautiful
churches and villages. The towns are buzzing with people
enjoying the hot weather and markets.
The Vendee has many great coastal towns, beaches, forests and
resorts which welcome you with activities ranging from surfing
to kayaking. The offshore islands, such as Noirmoutier Island,
are full of charm and pretty old traditional French buildings
which are along side modern attractions such as the Oceanile
Water Park.
The
many cycle routes throughout Vendee lead you though magical
forests, towns buzzing with people, along long sandy beaches and
through small inland villages. These wonderful tracks offer you
a quick, healthy, fun and scene full ride through Vendee; from
town to town and from beach to beach - the sites you see and
wonderful French atmosphere you experience will put a smile on
your face.
Inland
is flat farming country where you'll find many small, peaceful
and beautiful villages, such as Sallertaine. These small
villages and towns have wonderful stone buildings and big old
churches in the town centres, perfect to explore in the hot,
sunny Vendee days. As well as these small villages, large cities
such as Challans and St Gilles offer many shops, bars, cafes,
markets and restaurants for you to visit. These towns buzzing
filled with people give you a great excited feeling as you
explore the cities attractions, views, shops and French food.
